Happy Halloween!
and get set for a kidlit writing contest!
Little Thoughts Press recently received an incredibly lovely write-up from The Broken Spine!

Thank you to The Broken Spine for this wonderful spotlight and to Tracie Renee for nominating us!
If you like what we’re doing and want to help support our mission, please consider signing up for an annual subscription through our ko-fi memberships (Ponderer level and above receive a print subscription.) Our next issue, due out in December, is Better Together and it’s a collection of poetry, prose and artwork celebrating community and collective action. If you have young kids and are looking for ways to get them interested and invested in building community and providing support and care for others, our Better Together issue will do just that and it will be the first of three issues you’ll receive. It would make a great holiday gift for young readers!
Speaking of Tracie Renee, our From Trash to Treasure contest is coming back and Tracie is our guest judge this year!

For our From Trash to Treasure contest we ask you to take a discarded-but-loved line from one of your kidlit pieces and use it as a starting point for a poem. Be it fiction or nonfiction, funny or a little dark, quirky or inspirational – whatever direction you go, the work should be appropriate for kids 12 and younger. LGTBQT+ and diverse themes are welcome. The first line of your new poem must be a line that you previously cut from a different piece.
This contest will open on November 13th! Take a look at last year’s entries to get a sense of the contest’s structure, and keep an eye on the blog for when this year’s contest page opens!
In Case You Missed It
Last year, former Little Thoughts editor Carrie Karnes-Fannin put together a collection of Halloween stories and poems from Little Thoughts contributors. Each piece features a delightful illustration by Carrie.
If you missed it, or just want to revisit it now that Halloween is here again, you can check it out here.
