Spread the Love

Our Silly Love Sonnets Contest is back!

Hello & welcome to our new newsletter!

Thank you for supporting Little Thoughts Press and kid-lit creators! We are excited to use this space to celebrate our fabulous contributors, share news about upcoming publications, submission opportunities, writing workshops, and more. We would also love to share reviews of picture books, chapter and middle-grade books, and poetry collections here. If you have a book you love and want to shout out, please consider sending a review our way. We are excited to be able to offer a small payment of $5 for all published reviews. We are especially interested in spreading the love for books from small publishers and those that have been targeted for or are at risk of being targeted for book bans. Maybe you’re not interested in reviewing books but you know someone who is? Please feel free to share this newsletter far and wide in your kid-lit networks. It has become increasingly difficult to reach an audience of readers and potential contributors and we appreciate your help in spreading the word.

This week, get ready for the return of our Silly Love Sonnets Contest!

Valentine’s Day is almost here and we want to celebrate all the little things you love the most! We had so much fun with last year’s contest (check out the winners here) and can’t wait to do it again.

From February 12th - February 14th, we want to read your odes to life’s little pleasures. Don’t let the sonnet form scare you away from participating, any 14-line poem will do. Check out all the contest details and start brainstorming your silliest love sonnets now!

Huge thanks to all of the talented artists and illustrators who sent their artwork our way for Issue 10: An Ekphrasis Adventure! We have selected 10 inspiring illustrations that will be featured on the website later this month to serve as prompts for this issue’s writing submissions. If you haven’t yet, read more about this issue’s theme and keep an eye out for an update for when our selected illustrations go live on the site. We can’t wait to see what wonderful stories and poetry these works of art inspire!

In the meantime, get into the ekphrasis mood with our Inspired by Illustrations blog series!

Find links to all of our past issues, available in print or to download for free, here. We have three new issues heading your way this year and we can’t wait to share them with you. Thank you for reading and supporting Little Thoughts Press!
